February 2012 12 car rally

Many thanks to the many marshals and competitors who supported the second round of the 2012 “On the Road” Championship.

Despite the low turnout of expert crews the result was quite close but it is a few years since anyone took the spoils from Mark Banham & Paul Haylock on my event.  We are however grateful for every entry as it takes all classes to make the rallies worthwhile in the present climate. 

With respect, one or two of our beginner crews have quite a lot to learn but I am sure that help is not too far away and I will be pleased to assist if called upon to do so.

Lynn Charity Stages

The organising team reluctantly had to make the decision to cancel the 2011 event, due to the lack of support. It was a very sad and difficult decision to make, considering that we had access to some of the best available stage routes in recent years, and were offering very good value for money. Thank you to those who had committed to the event. We do hope to return in 2012!

Vintage & Classic Rally

We are already planning this year's event which will take place on Sunday 8 July 2012 and be our 35th Annual Vintage & Classic Car Rally.

Provisionally, the rally will start in the Thetford area and then head north through the county to lunch at Fakenham Racecourse and on to finish at the magnificent Holkham Hall close to the north Norfolk coast. Further details should be available here shortly.

If you are a vintage or classic car owner, we hope you will be able to enter. If you know other owners, please encourage them to do so too; full regulations will appear on these pages in April.Please contact Ivan Cunnington (01406 363350) or Adrian Cunnington if you require any further information.

Last year's 34th Annual Vintage & Classic Rally took place on Sunday, 26th June, 2011. The rally started at the Timbers, Fincham with lunch at the Barnham Broom Hotel and finished at Thursford Museum, near Fakenham with a route of around 70 miles.Thanks to everyone who supported the event and to the team of KLDMC marshals. The standard of entry was extremely high so congratulations to all the class winners and to Derek Langridge who won Car of the Day, following on from his class win last year. Well done too to Steve Saunders & Liz Bollons who won our new award, the Hillebrand Bos Memorial Trophy, for their adventurous outfits in keeping with their VW Devon Caravette of the mid-1960s.
